Challenging young minds, nurturing global vision

“Business Basics” is an innovative program designed to teach 10-year old kids the role of business and economics in today’s life. All classes are led by an experienced tutor through real-life interaction.

Upon completion of the first module students will be able to:

  • Explain the basic economic concepts and recognize these concepts in their everyday life
  • Describe simple production processes and main factors of production

Program length: 5 weeks x 45 min

Language: English

Teaching format: One week before each class students receive an assignment. The assignment usually contains a video to watch and a list of questions to answer, where required preparation time varies per student between 15 and 45min. The classes take place on Zoom platform, which allows all participants be heard and visible in real-time. Each classroom has 3-5 students and a tutor. Watch here a short examples of our sessions:

The students use a paper notebook, where they are requested to write-down the new words and concepts studied in class. Parents have an opportunity to log-in to a platform with information on the content of each class.

Our learning methodology:

Blended learning: We combine online digital media with traditional classroom methods

Ability grouping: We exercise great care when selecting the students and pairing them in the classroom.

Adaptive teaching: While all our classrooms follow the same program, class activities are adapted to each child’s interests and development level and may different per classroom.

Case method: Students learn from the stories of existing children entrepreneurs and famous companies.

Learning through collaborative argumentation and Learning by teaching:

+50% of the class time is dedicated to student interactions, where tutor acts as a facilitator. Students learn a great deal by explaining their ideas to others or defending their point of view.

Open-ended problem solving: To motivate child’s critical and creative thinking our exercises often contain incomplete information. Students are asked not only to show their final solution, but also to explain how they got their answers and which assumptions they made on the way.

The program aims to develop the following key competencies for lifelong learning:

  1. Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship
  2. Digital competence
  3. Learning to learn
  4. Communicating in a foreign language
  5. Cultural awareness and expression
  6. Social and civic competencies
